In 2023 it’s rare to find a business that’s not on social media, but that doesn’t mean all of them are using these platforms effectively to generate online success.

With an insight into the world of digital marketing, we’ve pulled together some useful tips to help you refocus your online social strategy and increase your organisation’s brand awareness.

Facebook, Instagram, TikTok… Where to start?

There are a lot to choose from and each platform has its pros and cons, but it’s not entirely necessary for your business to be on every single one.

A good start is to consider your industry and its audience, and what you want to achieve.

Where are your clients and customers going to be online, and where can you engage with them?

It’s also important to acknowledge that social media platforms come, boom and eventually go. Facebook was all the rage in the 2010s, but a decade on, Instagram and TikTok are now the top dogs of the social media world.

For any business, regardless of your industry, you need to be using platforms that can best represent your brand to communicate your message and engage with your target audience effectively.

Consistency

Maintaining a consistent presence across social media is paramount in keeping your brand front and centre of your target audience. By posting regular updates featuring polished visual content and engaging with clients and customers, you’ll be contributing to maintaining and developing your brand image.

This consistency doesn’t fall on a single platform.

It’s about knowing your audience, and each platform is different. However, consider your brand identity. How do you look on these platforms? How do you sound? Are you maintaining a visual image and tone of voice that your customers expect from you? Make sure these things are consistent across the board as you’re making a first impression for new clientele and creating multiple online touchpoints for existing clients.

Content

Creating engaging content that encourages users to interact with your brand massively supports increasing brand awareness across social media. Prioritise a strong message, a call to action, and visually appealing imagery. You need to give to invest in your brand.

It’s important to note that platforms such as Instagram and TikTok are now focusing on SEO, meaning that keywords can help boost you in search rankings. Hashtags can also support potential reach; keep it clean and use up to 5 relevant hashtags.

Trends

With content often comes trends, and brands keeping up with what’s generating buzz online can result in a quick increase of reach in a short space of time – if you do it right. Now it may of course not necessarily apply to your strategy, but for some, TikTok specifically has been huge for this. You only have to scroll down the app for a few seconds and you’ll see what’s trending.

Get to know your audience

Actively engaging, interacting, and responding with existing and potential customers through comments, likes and direct messages, allows businesses to gain useful insights on brand perception. Utilising this feedback allows for the relationship from business to consumer to flourish.

Through the successful execution of these strategies, social media marketing can immensely amplify brand awareness, broaden your audience’s scope, and position your brand as a key player within your industry.
